New Balance 990v6
Made-in-USA mesh and pigskin in the original gray
The 990v6 continues New Balance’s commitment to modular construction — a midsole that can be rebuilt, an upper that refuses to pretend it isn’t assembled.
The upper is pig-suede and open-weave mesh, the N a thin band of reflective silver. The EnergyArc plate runs half the length of the foot, yielding at the ball but stiff through the arch. Finish is restrained throughout: no contrast stitching, no patch logos, ash-gray throughout.
Made in Massachusetts, priced where the 993 used to sit. The v6 is where New Balance stopped hedging between legacy and technical — this is both.
New Balance’s product page includes a construction walkthrough that explains why the shoe costs what it does.
